At BR Institute of Dermatology and Allied Diseases, Harlem point, Columbia Asia Hospital - Salt Lake, Kolkata and other clinics (IPL), our Dermatologist, Prof. Dr. Rathindra Nath Dutta, uses podophyllin chemical cautery to treat plantar and genital warts, trichloracetic acid (TCA) chemical cautery to treat cholesterol deposits (xanthelasma palpebrum), warts and molluscum contagiosum, and phenol for chemical ear lobe repair and treatment of bald patches due to alopecia areata.

Prof. Dr. Dutta teaches his students about the use of chemical cautery, alone as well as in combination with other modalities like radiofrequency surgery.
